The RescueME Serious Game
Play. Reflect. Prepare and transform.
The RescueME Serious Game is a tabletop-based participative workshop format designed to identify strategies for strengthening resilience in cultural landscapes and to raise awareness about resilience building. Bringing together 5 to 10 participants and one facilitator, it creates a collaborative space where players engage with the challenges of coastal cultural landscapes and resilience building.
Through guided play, participants explore aspects of local resilience and future development scenarios, share expertise, and exchange perspectives. The game encourages open dialogue, critical thinking, and collective reflection, making it a powerful tool for practitioners, communities, learners and anyone with a stake in building more resilient futures.
The RescueME Serious Game is available as a fictional version — RescueMEra — offering an immersive and accessible entry point into resilience thinking. All game materials are print-ready.
The game can also be adapted to the local contexts and cultural landscapes of the communities and organizations that choose to apply it. For each RescueME R-Lab (the RescueME case studies), a specific version was developed and applied in a workshop setting, resulting in five distinct versions tailored to their respective contexts. The content of the five versions and their results can be found in the RescueME Deliverable on the Serious Game application.
