RescueME Mapping Models
Mapping models are Deep Learning models used to process Earth Observation imagery and generate delineation maps of floods, landslides and burnt areas, plus burn severity estimation maps of wildfires, transforming raw observation data into actionable information and thematic layers. They constitute the core elements of the mapping service developed in RescueME to support evidence-based decision making for emergency response and post-event recovery planning.
The service is activated by user requests, and orchestrates asynchronous satellite imagery retrieval, AI-based analysis, and geospatial layer generation, enabling both real-time monitoring of ongoing events and historical analysis of past disasters.
The resulting GeoTIFF delineation maps maintain dimensions and coordinates of input Sentinel-2 imagery, while burn severity maps provide the Copernicus Emergency Management Service 5-level classification.
